Texas HCSSA administrator & alternate training

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) requires all Home and Community Support Services Agency (HCSSA) administrators and alternate administrators to complete specific training under the Texas Administrative Code, Title 26, Part 1, Chapter 558.

Before designation as an administrator or alternate administrator, you must complete 8 clock hours of initial training covering topics specified in §558.259(c), including HCSSA licensing standards, client rights and responsibilities, emergency preparedness, and complaint investigation procedures.

Within your first 12 months in the role, you must complete an additional 16 clock hours of training per §558.259(d), covering fraud and abuse prevention, advance directives, quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI), personnel management, and documentation standards.

After your first year, you must complete 12 clock hours of continuing education annually per §558.260 to maintain your qualifications. Annual CE must cover topics related to the administration of home and community support services agencies.
